Prohibition, Ponsonby

So... with a disappointment, my friend and I headed to our old time favorites, Nostalgia (formerly Prohibition). We use to have a lovely afternoon tea here from time to time. Excellent interior design with attention to details, lovely lighting, wonderful dessert... However tonight wasn't our lucky night.

We had to wait to be seated even though there was practically no one in the restaurant. Where is the waiter? This was the question we were asking for the whole night. When we were finally seated, we ordered the Miniatures, selection of the pastry chef`s mini desserts ($13) along with coffees. What we got was basically left overs from an afternoon tea. Cake was dry and everything tasted old and awful. Why would you give out a jam if there isn't a scone? I have ordered this before and it was absolutely lovely. My friend also mentioned that the food has deteriorated maybe since after a new owner/chef. Is this why there isn't anyone on Wednesday night? Possibly. What a shame with such a gorgeous designed restaurant...

  1. This restaurant used to be my favourite as well.
You told us their low tea was quite good.
So we went there and fell in love with this place :)

Last time we went there their low tea was still all right but I guess their dinner dessert menu is not as good as their low tea t.t How disappointing..

I would still go there if there is a discount voucher but otherwise...haha:)
